Amoeba’s Lorica: aurora

Your Friendly Neighborhood Amoeba recently got the data recovered from an old external hard drive, and has been subjecting himself to the himself of two decades ago. This piece of flotsam is from pre-blog days, pre-formatted and ready to post; YFNA is getting progressively lazier.

did you see the aurora tonight
curtained red fountains from green fantasia
backing still crystal

there was a deadline
i did not

late in the chill
neck at the edge of balance
i looked for the aurora
as i have looked for the immolations
of the promised meteor shower
nothing but fossil photons
from the boundary of the universe

only once have i seen the aurora
seven shimmer veils for the naked north
the prudish forest
constrains the eyes of the interstate
speedlimit glances
give only teases of the brazen display
when i arrive the ionic dancer is gone
did you see the aurora tonight

there was a rerun
they did not
