Kris an’ Murphy

Kris and Murphy are two university professors of indeterminate age (though they are old enough to have secured tenure) who, at the end of each workday, wander over to their faculty club (see “secured tenure”, supra) to refresh themselves and discuss the issues of the day. Typically, each one starts off the discussion thinking that he believes in something, and winds up believing that he’ll have another drink.

(Years and years ago, Your Friendly Neighborhood Amoeba was subjected to the writings of the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti, whose philosophy about anything, near as YFNA could make out, was “if you think you understand it, you’ve obviously overlooked something”. Yeah, there’s a reason why you’ve never heard of him.)
